Recognition by country 2023

Most applications in 2023 come from Turkey, followed by the Philippines and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Austria has the highest positive recognition rate in 2023 with 96 percent, followed by Latvia with 94 percent, as well as the Netherlands, Hungary and the Czech Republic, which also have positive recognition rates of over 90 percent.

Azerbaijan, Spain, the Philippines, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Lebanon recorded the largest increases in positive recognition decisions.

At 72 percent, Uzbekistan is the country with the highest number of applications that were granted a compensation measure and whose completion was still pending at the end of the reporting year. This is followed by Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Thailand, Brazil, Indonesia, Algeria and India with over 60 percent.

The most frequent applications in 2023 came from Turkey. Turkey has thus replaced Bosnia and Herzegovina as the country with the most applications after several consecutive years. Bosnia and Herzegovina is now in third place, with the Philippines remaining in second place. The number of recognition decisions from Turkey had already risen in 2022 compared to 2021. In 2023, the number of recognition decisions almost doubled. The Philippines recorded around 500 more notifications of recognition than in the previous year, while Bosnia and Herzegovina maintained a similar level of notifications of recognition.

Significant increases in the number of recognition certificates were also recorded for India, Kosovo, Iran, Ukraine, Egypt, and Morocco. Recognition certificates for Brazilian, Syrian, and Albanian qualifications also increased significantly. However, there was a decline in the number of recognition certificates, particularly for Serbian qualifications.
